Known as Norman, he was presumed dead as a ‘consequence of war operations’ at an inquest held at Belfast City Hall on 23 July 1941.

He lost his life at his home on Avoca Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid where 12 people in total were killed including his parents Alexander and Mary and brother William.
