Known as Maisie, she was severely injured when masonry from a neighbouring building damaged in the Fire Raid on the 4/5 May 1941 collapsed on to the store room of the Bonne Bouche Cafe where she was employed.

She was rescued from the rubble by a passing sailor and brought to the Royal Victoria Hospital where she died of her injuries.

Maisie is buried in Dundonald Cemetery.
