Samuel Hoy Gowan lost his life when a parachute mine landed in the Pollock Dock area during the Dockside Raid on the 8th April 1941.

He was the son of Mary and Samuel Gowan and the husband of Margaret Gowan and he is buried in Dundonald Cemetery.
