Have Yourself a Merry Home Front Christmas

Step back in time and experience the warmth and resilience of a 1940s Christmas at the Northern Ireland War Memorial.

This December, join us for a series of FREE family-friendly workshops that celebrate festive life on the Home Front during the Second World War.

Saturday 6 December: Make, Do and Merry - 12pm-4pm

Get creative with Christmas crafts, making cards and decorations inspired by the 1940s spirit of resourcefulness.

Saturday 13 December: 'Dig for Victory' Christmas Garden Pots - 12pm-4pm

Come decorate a Christmas pot, plant peas and learn about wartime gardening efforts that helped families make the most of their resources.

Saturday 20 December: On the Ration at Christmastime - 12pm-4pm

Plus, every day in December:

  • See authentic wartime items and decorations
  • Weigh out your own sweet ration - just like in the 1940s!
