Whats On
Roof Over Northern Ireland by Richard Doherty
The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI), in partnership with the Northern Ireland War Memorial (NIWM), welcomes you to a talk by military historian Richard Doherty.
This talk will give a brief outline of the Anti-Aircraft (AA) defences of Northern Ireland during the Second World War, how those defences were controlled, co-operation with the Royal Air Force, principal locations of AA defences in gun defended areas (GDAs) and the equipment used by the AA regiments – heavy guns, light guns, searchlights and rockets. How strong were the AA defences, what were their weaknesses and what were their strengths.
