James Alexander Barr was killed when a parachute mine landed on the road outside his house during the Easter Tuesday Raid. His wife Jeannie, son William, daughter Elizabeth and two policemen in the RUC barracks next door also lost their lives as a result of the Blast.

James is buried in Connor New Cemetery along with his family.
