John was presumed dead as a ‘consequence of war operations’ at an inquest held at Belfast City Hall on 23 July 1941.

At least 69 people lost their lives on Hogarth Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid including his mother Isabella and siblings Isabel, James and Thomas.

John has no known grave.
