Known as Bobbie, he was declared dead 'in consequence of war operations' at an inquest held at Belfast City Hall on 26 June 1941.

He was killed on Heather Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid.

In total, forty people were killed here including his mother Letitia, brothers Herbert and Frederick and sister in law, Edith.
