Belfast Blitz Walking Tours - EHOD 2026
Join us this European Heritage Open Days weekend to uncover the story of the 1941 Belfast Blitz through two FREE guided walking tours in Belfast.
Marking 85 years since the four nights that changed the face of the city, the Northern Ireland War Memorial will host tours in East Belfast and the Cathedral Quarter.
These powerful tours draw on the museum's Oral History collection, sharing first-hand accounts from those who lived through the air raids. Their voices capture the chaos and confusion, the danger endured, and the devastating impact and lasting legacy of the nights Belfast was 'blitzed'.
Along the routes, visitors will also encounter listed buildings and sites with protected status, highlighting how parts of the city's historic built environment - some damaged during the Blitz - have been preserved and safeguarded for future generations.

Tour 1 begins on Westbourne Street (What3Words: Sage.Boost.Punt) at 11am, finishing at the Northern Ireland War Memorial Museum round 1pm. This tour lasts approximately 2 hours, covers 2 miles, and suitable footwear is essential.
