Keep Calm and Play On: Children's Fun in Wartime Belfast
During the Second World War, many children were evacuated from Belfast to the safety of the countryside. Families are invited to explore what life was like for these evacuees by exploring how children played during the Second World War and how childhood games have changed over time.
Through a museum exploration, hands-on play stations and a simple craft activity, children will discover what life was like for wartime children and how they made their own fun using imagination, scraps, rhymes and street games.
Learning about history through the lens of children's play will also encourage them to think about the games, toys and stories that are at risk of being forgotten today.
This is a drop-in event on Saturday 22 August from 12pm-4pm. No booking necessary. Free admission into the museum.
