David was presumed dead as a ‘consequence of war operations’ at an inquest held at Belfast City Hall on 19 June 1941.

He lost his life when 95 Blythe Street was hit by a bomb during the Easter Tuesday Raid. His mother Mary Jane, brothers Ernest and John, uncle David, aunt Violet and cousins Vera and Ella also lost their lives.

Sarah Thompson is also recorded as being killed by enemy action at 95 Blythe Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid.
