John was presumed dead as a ‘consequence of war operations’ at an inquest held at Belfast City Hall on 19 June 1941.

His mother Mary Jane, brothers David and Ernest, uncle David, aunt Violet, cousins Vera and Ella and Sarah Thompson also lost their lives during the Easter Tuesday Raid.
