Joseph was killed when a parachute mine struck the spire of Trinity Street Church during the Easter Tuesday Raid.

His parents Joseph and Bridget and siblings Mary, Eileen and James were also killed.

Joseph's body was taken to St George’s Market where he was identified by his uncle.

He is buried in Milltown Cemetery with his father and siblings.
