Francis was killed when a wall of York Street Spinning Mill collapsed onto Sussex and Vere Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid.

His brother Charles, sister-in-law Elizabeth and nephew Dennis were also killed.

Francis is buried in Milltown Cemetery.
