Known as Gerald, he was presumed dead as a ‘consequence of war operations’ at an inquest held at Belfast City Hall on 19 June 1941.

He lost his life at his home on Ballynure Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid. His parents Jeremiah and Lavina, brothers Desmond, William, John, Robert and Cecil, sister Una, brother-in-law John and niece Joan were also killed. Their neighbours, the Douglas family, had taken shelter with them and were also killed.

He has no known grave.
