Accreditation

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve maintained Full Accreditation!

The Museum Accreditation Scheme is a set of nationally agreed standards that ensure museums are sustainable, focused and trusted.

Accreditation helps our staff and trustees to do the right things, helping people to access and engage with our collections, and protecting them for future generations.

Since we became Accredited in 2013 we’ve recorded increasing engagement with our audiences through exhibitions, events, learning and outreach. We’re particularly proud of our extended reach across NI, speaking to groups across all six counties. We also believe that being Accredited encourages the public to trust us with their objects and stories, confident in the knowledge that we can care for them in the long-term. We’ve calculated that object donations have increased by 227% since 2012!

The UK Museum Accreditation Scheme is administered in Northern Ireland on behalf of Arts Council England by the Northern Ireland Museums Council who we’d like to thank sincerely for their support. Thanks also to our fantastic staff team for the work they do to ensure we are an engaging and welcoming museum with a fascinating story to share.
