Learning Resource Launch at St Benildus College
Last month we were delighted to be hosted by St Benildus College in Stillorgan, Co. Dublin for the launch of two learning resources for Irish post primary schools which have been kindly funded by a grant from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Reconciliation Fund.

Our StoryMaps website features excerpts from NIWM’s oral history collection covering themes including the Belfast Blitz, the American presence, industries, smuggling, evacuees and VE/VJ Day.
Our Blitz comic book with artwork by artist Leeann Hamilton tells the story of Irish firefighters who volunteered to cross the border and give their help during the Belfast Blitz.
Both resources feature related classroom activities for Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate students.
We were pleased to be joined at the event by representatives from the Reconciliation Fund, History Teachers' Association of Ireland and pupils and staff from local schools and colleges. Dublin Fire Brigade historian Las Fallon also kindly joined us to speak on the historical context behind the Blitz comic book.
